Pumpkin decorating, 3 year old style!

Last week we took a trip to a nearby pumpkin patch. Since we went on a Monday afternoon, it was virtually deserted which worked out well for us. Rachel chose 2 medium pumpkins from the patch and then selected 4 miniature pumpkins from the baskets by the store.

Yesterday we decided to "decorate" them. I had asked Rachel if she wanted to help Daddy carve a pumpkin face but she was vehemently against the idea of cutting the poor pumpkins. Instead, Rachel wanted to do "markering" and "stickering" in addition to decorating with paper chains. I convinced her to do the small pumpkins wih me and to save the bigger ones for her and Daddy. Rachel happily coloured on each pumpkin and arranged stickers on each side.

This morning Rachel and Ben made paper chains, and Ben stapled them to the pumpkin stems this afternoon. All 6 pumpkins are now on our front porch. Inside the studio, there is a "pumpkin sign" taped to the window. It was dictated by Rachel and reads, "Rachel made these pumpkins. She decorated them with markers, stickers and paper chains."

I'll add pictures soon.
