Ben just got off the phone with Hertz and apparently the van return was processed on Monday May 7th even though we returned it on Friday May 4th. They would like us to fax a gas receipt proving that we filled the van with gas in London on May 4th as "proof" that we returned it that day. Um, ok. How is that proof of anything other than buying gas? It won't be a problem to fax them a receipt as soon as I can find it in our mess of an office, but it's kind of ridiculous. Jumping through hoops, anyone?
Ben is going to keep trying to call the London Hertz office to see if he can straighten it out from this end since he was told by the man at the Hertz office here that he would only be charged for two days.
To be fair, he is also calling our insurance agent to find out why we have yet to be charged for car insurance and he will also be calling our banker to find out why our mortgage payment wasn't taken out of our account on Friday.
And to think I once wondered what people in their 30s did.
