Update on the "snow"

I just realized that I left everyone hanging about our big, scary snowstorm at the end of November. ;)

On Thursday morning (Nov.30), we woke up and it was cold but sunny and clear. We didn't even need to clean the van off before heading out to drop Ben at UMKC and Rachel at pre-school. On the way out the door, I said something like, "There's no point in checking if school is cancelled, is there?"

About 20 minutes into our drive, we heard the school closings on the radio. ALL of the schools were closed, but UMKC was thankfully open so Ben at least got in his second presentation. We turned around, stopped at Starbucks for gingerbread lattes, and Rachel and I stayed home since Beth Shalom follows the public school closings.

The schools were closed pre-emptively because a big snowstorm was coming our way. The snow didn't start until 2pm. Ben still went out to teach that night because there were only a few inches of snow at that point.

On Friday morning (Dec.1), we woke up to see 4-6 inches of snow on the ground. Ooh, aah. It was soooooooooooooooooo scary. ;) The sun was shining, and no snow was falling. Schools were closed again. As an aside, there was a snow day in London, Ontario this past Friday. Of course, London got closer to two FEET of snow. Hehe.

Rachel got to build a little snowman and we walked through the snow a lot. It's all gone now, of course.

And luckily, some strings were pulled (hahaha) and Ben's friend C's recital was rescheduled to this past week as was Ben's presentation. All's well that ends well.
